Family constellations;

Family constellations is a therapeutic methodology that helps you in the most efficient way to improve the quality of your own life and all your relationships.

What is a system?

You, like everyone else, are born into a particular family system, from a father and a mother who themselves were in turn born into a particular system.

And then there are the other family members; grandparents, siblings, uncles and aunts with whom you are linked. A country, a company, a class or a society are all systems in themselves as well.

Sometimes you may unconsciously carry emotional charges for someone else in your family system. You often encounter the same problems or issues and wonder why certain themes keep recurring. You experience this as something limiting, something that expresses itself unconsciously in your own life - often with negative consequences for yourself and your relationships.

Why do you do a family constellation?

Ultimately, most of us suffer from those harmony distortions and it can cause a lot of tension and stress. If nothing is done about it, these can then be passed back to the children, perpetuating this story of disharmony.

Through family constellations I look at the causes of these patterns, of that stress or beliefs. This provides clarity and insight, which always leads to awareness and transformation.

During a family constellation, your loyalties to your system are made visible. It becomes clear how strong the influence of your system is on your own life. And you experience more freedom when you can recognize and release the negative consequences for you.

How does it work in group? 

A family constellation is a therapeutic session where a participant comes with a question he or she wants to get clarity on. For the protagonists in that issue, other participants are chosen as "representatives. The inquiring participant gives them a place in the room in relation to the other participants, partly assisted by the therapist. A "tableau vivant" is thus created that reveals underlying aspects of the issue as the representatives are questioned about their feelings and attitudes toward each other and the situation.

Using simple instructions from the facilitator, the representatives bring movement to the situation and peace can be established between the persons the representatives represent. The effects of the session are sometimes short-term, but often long-term.

You do not have to have your question completely clear, as a facilitator I will help you with this in a short interview before the constellation begins.

How does it benefit me?

A family constellation is a fascinating and unique learning process. It expands your consciousness and brings you valuable insights. Family constellations by definition show something you did not know or what you didn’t know had such an effect on you.

During a constellation, you can clearly feel how strongly you are connected to your ancestors. And once your unconscious entanglements are resolved, you can enjoy the positive forces coming to you from them.

It makes you feel more relaxed and lighter in your daily life when you are no longer carrying around those old problems.

Difference between a representative and having own constellation

The Representatives are the building blocks of a Constellation.  As such, when someone steps into the Knowing Field as a Representative in someone’s Constellation, they themselves are participating in a very powerful and personal healing journey.

The Knowing Field works in a very precise and mysterious way.  The person chosen to represent a family member or an aspect of a clients situation is a perfect match for what is needing to be expressed in that Family dynamic.  The energy and personality of the representative is often an exact expression of a person’s family member.  How this happens is one of the mysteries of the Constellations healing process.

About Eve Mintiens

I first came into contact with family constellations in 2010 in Turkey and was immediately fascinated by them. I joined as much I could as a representative and had a dozen constellations done for myself.

I already knew then, one day I will facilitate “Family Constellations” myself. In 2012 I found out for the first time that I was an “Alone Born Twin” and since then a lot has changed in my life.

Once back in Belgium, by 2016, I started several trainings on systemic coaching and guiding family constellations. With a specialization in Alone-born twins and a strong background in relationships, I guide people in their process towards a freer life.

As a forever student, I am always learning and have collected a lot of skills in my backpack.
